This clinic is designed to help young educators and upper level college students become familiar with the common "surprises" that could occur during the first few years of teaching. Attendees will learn strategies to help build a successful band program early and help in avoid the pitfalls first year teachers often face. Participants will assess their current strengths and weaknesses and develop a plan to achieve a successful balance that supports their own career goals.
Nolan Jager Loyde

Nolan Jager Loyde is a Cum Laude Graduate of the University of North Texas where he received his Bachelor of Music Education Degree in 2009. He is associate director of bands at Westfield High School (TX). His bands have earned superior ratings at various festivals and UIL competitions. He was selected as the campus Rookie Teacher of the Year at Westfield High School in 2010. Loyde serves as a member of the Westfield Campus Design Team and National Honor Society Faculty Advisory Committee. He began the Origin Fine Arts Honor Society for the Spring Independent School District, which promotes arts experiences and scholarship for students who may not otherwise be afforded those opportunities. He has been an active performer and has received various honors. He also serves as assistant director with Bocal Majority and Operation Oboe Camps.
