- Biographical Information
Jodie Blackshaw is an experienced educator/composer published by GIA Publications, Brolga Music, and Manhattan Beach Music. Her unique works provide an educational pathway for both students and director, as well as many opportunities for musical exploration. She is passionate about combining active music making strategies with instrumental music instruction to ensure that every student is able to thoroughly understand the “why” and not just the “what, when and how.” Her works range from beginning band through to the professional level, each containing a strong emotional center, making the performance of a “Blackshaw” as compelling to learn as it is to hear live. In 2014, Jodie Blackshaw commenced her Doctorate of Musical Arts at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music with Australian composer Carl Vine and renowned wind band conductor Dr. John Lynch.
