Richard Saucedo

Richard Saucedo recently retired as Director of Bands and Performing Arts Chairman at Carmel High School (IN). During his 31-year tenure, Carmel Bands received numerous state and national honors in concert, jazz and marching band. The Carmel Band performed at the BOA National Concert Band Festival as well as The Midwest Clinic. The Carmel Marching Band was named BOA National Champion in 2005 and 2012. The Indiana Bandmasters named Mr. Saucedo “Bandmaster of the Year” for 1998-99 and he was named “Outstanding Music Educator” for 2010 by the Indiana Music Educators Association. Mr. Saucedo was inducted into the “Music for All” Hall of Fame in 2015. Mr. Saucedo is a freelance composer and arranger, having released over 350 works. He is on the writing staff at Hal Leonard Publishing and his concert band works have been performed world-wide. He is the author of two DVD’s on rehearsing marching band and is featured in two concert band rehearsal technique DVD’s. Mr. Saucedo travels the world as an adjudicator, keynote speaker, clinician and conductor. Recently, he was an adjudicator and clinician for the Singapore International Band Festival (2014), the Japan Band Clinic (2016) and the Australian Band and Orchestra Clinic (2016). He has been a clincian at the Midwest Band and Orchestra Clinic, the Texas Music Educators Association, and has presented at numerous state MEA’s. Mr. Saucedo was the brass composer/arranger for the Cavaliers Drum and Bugle Corps (IL) from 2000 through 2008. The Cavaliers won five DCI World Championships during Mr. Saucedo’s tenure. Mr. Saucedo is an Educational Consultant for “Music for All” and is a member of the Conn-Selmer Division of Education. He is on the board of “United Sound”, an organization that provides students with special needs instrumental performance opportunities. Mr. Saucedo did his undergraduate work at Indiana University and finished his master’s degree at Butler University in Indianapolis. He lives in Fishers, IN with his wife Sarah, who works in interior design and his son Ethan, who plays basketball while also studying piano and percussion. His daughter Carmen is an elementary school teacher.
