Jamie Roth - Biographical Information

Jamie Roth, a native to South Florida, is an accomplished composer, arranger, educator, and woodwind performer. He is currently the Director ofBands and Jazz Studies at Pine Crest School in FortLauderdale, Florida where he teaches from grades 4through 12. Roth holds a Bachelor of Music fromFlorida Atlantic University (1994) and a Master ofStudio Jazz Writing from the University of Miami(1996). Upon graduation, he began his teaching career at FAU teaching music theory, orchestration, and music technology. With his experience in DrumCorps., Roth also freelanced as a marching band drill writer, field tech, and show music arranger for local high schools. He has been a National Board Certified Educator since 2004. In 2007, he was awarded the Outstanding Secondary Teacher Award from the Florida Atlantic UniversityDepartment of Education and was elected one of FMEA’s Emerging Leaders. Mr. Roth has served the Florida Bandmasters Association as both District 15 Secretary and Chairman and is a seasoned FBA adjudicator in the areas of Solo and Ensemble, Concert Bands, and Jazz MusicPerformance. Mr. Roth performs regularly with various Rock/Funk Horn Bands, WindEnsembles, Musical Pit Orchestras, and Jazz Big Bands throughout the South Florida area. He is skilled in audio/studio production and has produced numerous projects for clients working at notable recording studios and with well-known engineers in the industry. Mr. Roth is a published composer/arranger who is commissioned to write for a variety of school and professional wind, pop/rock, and jazz bands of all ability levels. Recently, his works have been performed by the United States Airmen of Note and University of Miami Frost School ofMusic’s Henry Mancini Big Band. Jamie has also been invited to have his arrangements performed by Randy Brecker on his Big Band engagements. Mr. Roth’s reputation for tuneful, intriguing, and playable compositions and arrangements has earned his work a place in many educational and professional band libraries. Each year, as Director of Bands, Roth uses his own composition and arranging skills to cultivate his ensembles to reach their fullest potential. He isa member of the NAfME, Jazz Education Network, Florida Music Educators Association, and the International Society of Jazz Arrangers and Composers.
