Performer Bio Synopsis

Clements High School is one of 11 High Schools in the Fort Bend Independent School District just southwest of Houston, Tx. The Clements High School Band has been one of the premier bands in the Houston Area and also in the State of Texas with a strong tradition of excellence in the overall program. Clements High School is also one of the highest rated Academic Schools in the country with many Regional, State and National Honors in Math, Science and various other subject Areas in addition to Fine Arts. Clements High School consistently has over 35-40 National Merit Semi-Finalist and Finalist in addition to one of the highest Academic ratings for Public Schools in the State of Texas. The Clements Fine Arts programs consist of Band, Orchestra, Choir, Dance, Art and Theater. All 14 of the UIL Performing Music groups this year earned sweepstakes awards at UIL Concert and Sight-Reading Evaluation in band, choir and orchestra. The Clements Band program has been the 1995 Texas State 5A Honor Band, 2000 and 2001 Honor Band Finalist, 2015, 2017 and 2019 6A Honor Band Finalist and performed at the Midwest Clinic in 1995. The Clements Symphony has performed at the Midwest clinic in 2001 and 2014 and The Clements String Orchestra performed at the Midwest Clinic in 2011 and was named Texas State Honor Orchestra in 2010. The Clements Band program consists of a competitive marching band that has been to the UIL State Marching Contest 11 consecutive times, 3 concert bands, symphony orchestra and 3 competitive winter guards. In addition AP Music Theory and Chamber Group and Masterwork opportunities are offered in conjunction with the Orchestra and Choir. Fort Bend County and Sugar Land, Tx are considered one of the fastest growing and most diverse counties and cities in the United States. Clements High School is made up of a diverse cultural background and the Clements Band is proud to represent Sugar Land and Fort Bend County this fall at the 73rd Midwest Clinic!

Conductor's Bio

Daniel Galloway has taught for 26 years in Texas public schools. He is currently the Director of Bands at Clements High School in Sugarland, Tx. He earned his Bachelors of Music from Stephen F. Austin State University studying with Dr. Kevin Sedatole. The Clements Band has been recognized as one of the premier band programs in Texas in both the concert and marching idioms. The Clements Band has been a consistent UIL 5A State Marching Participant since 1998 and earned the Honor of being a National Winner in the National Wind-Band Honors Competition in 2010 and 2011. The Clements Band has performed as the Directors Choice Honor Ensemble at the Southeastern United States Band Clinic/Conference in Troy, Alabama. The Clements Bands consistently win Best in Class awards and place over 75 students in the TMEA Region 13 All Region Bands and over 30 TMEA Area students. Most recently the Clements Band was named 7th place Texas State Honor Band Finalist in the 2014 Class 5A TMEA State Honor Band Contest, 11th in the 2016 Class 6A TMEA State Honor Band Contest and 9th in the 2018 Class 6A TMEA State Honor Contest. The Clements Band placed as a finalist at the prestigious Bands of America Atlanta Super Regional in 2015 and has been a UIL Area Marching Finalist since 1998 and UIL Area Champion in 2010 and 2014 and runner –up in 2006, 2008 and 2018 with a 11th straight appearance at the UIL 6A State Marching Contest in 2018. The Clements Marching Band has earned many Championships at the Sam Houston Festival and the TMC Contest and most recently the Katy ISD Grand Champion. Daniel is also a co-conductor of the Clements Symphony Orchestra which recently performed at the Midwest Band Clinic 2014 and was Honor Full Orchestra Finalist in 2011 and 2015. Daniel instructed the 2010/2011 Bluecoats Drum and Bugle Corps as a brass instructor for the mellophone section and high brass and recently instructed the 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2016, 2017 and 2018 Santa Clara Vanguard DCI Champion and Jim Ott High Brass Winner and will instruct again in 2019 both the Santa Clara Vanguard and Vanguard Cadets. Daniel is currently member of the Texas Music Adjudicators Association and the Texas Color Guard and Percussion Association where he judges Effect Visual and Visual. Daniel also recently held for 5 years the position of Vice President of Marching Band Judge Education for the Texas Music Adjudicators Association. He has judged the Oklahoma Bandmasters Championships 4 times, New York Field Band Championships and numerous BOA Regionals including the 2016 BOA St Louis Super Regional. Daniel has also judged for the Western Band Association and the UIL State Championships in 2017. Daniel resides in Cypress, Tx with his wife of 26 years, Jackie and has 2 daughters. Ashley lives in Denver, Colorado and graduated from Texas State University with a Business Management Degree and Kaitlyn is a Senior Oboe Music Major at Stephen F. Austin State University and also has marched in the 2017/18 Oregon Crusaders and 2016 Colts Drum and Bugle Corps on mellophone. Both of his daughters are graduates of Langham Creek High School. Daniel has continued to learn from mentors and clinicians Tom Bennett, Randy Vaughn, Larry Matysiak(First Director of Clements Band), Kevin Sedatole and would like to thank the Feeder Directors Greg Countryman, Theresa Baragas, Carter Matschek, David Berndt and Julie Amos and Joe Slusser for all of their support! Lastly the teamwork from the staff at Clements is what he is most thankful for from Jeff Johnson, Leslie Flynn, Bryan Waites and Darren Martin.
