Performer Bio Synopsis

The Lynbrook Chamber Orchestra has achieved many honors, including being invited to perform at the 2019 Midwest Clinic. In 2018, the Orchestra performed in Spain (Barcelona, Zaragoza, Valencia). In 2016, the Orchestra was selected to perform at the California All-State Music Education Conference (CASMEC). In June of 2016, the Symphony Orchestra traveled to New York and performed at Carnegie Hall. The Chamber Orchestra has been featured as a clinic ensemble at the CMEA Bay Section winter conference, and each year multiple students are selected to All-State. The Lynbrook Chamber Orchestra has consistently earned unanimous superior ratings at CMEA festivals and other festivals throughout the state.

Conductor's Bio

Mike Pakaluk holds a B.M. in Music Education from the Hartt School of Music, and a M.M. degree in Trumpet Performance from the University of New Mexico. He has been teaching high school instrumental music since 2006 and is currently the Instrumental Music Director at Lynbrook High School in San Jose, where he directs the Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Band, Concert Band, Chamber Orchestra, String Orchestra, and the Viking Marching Band & Colorguard. Previously, he taught at Cabrillo High School in Lompoc, California (2006-2011), and in Derby, Connecticut (2003). He has teaching experience with every age range from pre-K through collegiate/adult. His groups have consistently earned high ratings in festivals, and each year a significant number of students participate in All-State and county honor groups. He has led Lynbrook ensembles on multiple statewide and international performance tours. Under his direction, the Lynbrook Orchestra performed at CASMEC in 2016 and most recently has been extended an invitation to perform at the 73rd annual Midwest Clinic (2019). In 2019, he was the recipient of the CMEA Bay Section "Outstanding Orchestra Educator" award. As a trumpet player, Mike Pakaluk has recorded and/or performed with the New Mexico Symphony Orchestra, the San Luis Obispo Symphony, the Santa Maria Philharmonic, the Damon Castillo Band, The Peninsula Symphony, the San Francisco Wind Symphony, the South Bay Dub All-Stars, and many others. He is currently a regular member of the Menlo Brass Quintet http://www.menlobrass.com/. He has been employed as a trumpet/brass instructor through Santa Clara Vanguard Music and Performing Arts and Santa Clara University. Mr. Pakaluk is active as a clinician and adjudicator for CMEA Bay Section and Music in the Parks, and has served as a board member with the California Band Directors Association (CBDA). He is currently the librarian for California Orchestra Directors Association (CODA), and the Secretary of the Santa Clara County Band Directors Association (SCCBDA).
