Performer Bio Synopsis

Winston Churchill High School is located in North East Independent School District in San Antonio, Texas. Churchill High School opened in 1966, and the band program has maintained a long history of tradition and excellence since then. The band program currently has an enrollment of approximately 200+ students that are involved with marching and concert band, jazz band, percussion ensemble, color guard, full orchestra, pep band and our theatre’s annual musical. The Churchill Band is a consistent BOA finalist, maintains consistent ratings at UIL, and has been competitive in both Winter Guard and Indoor Percussion, with both ensembles attending WGI Nationals in the past several years. The Churchill Band is a past participant of the Rose Bowl Parade, the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, and BOA Grand Nationals. The Percussion Ensemble has been selected to perform at the 2019 Midwest Clinic, marking the school's first time attending the convention.

Conductor's Bio

Colton Bean is beginning his third year of teaching and second year as an Assistant Band Director at Winston Churchill High School in San Antonio, Texas. At Churchill High School, Colton oversees the Percussion program, Co-teaches the Concert Band, and assists with all Percussion needs at the local feeder programs, Eisenhower, Bradley & Jackson Middle School. Prior to Churchill, Colton opened John Marshall Harlan High School in San Antonio, Texas in 2017-2018 as the Percussion Director. From 2015 to 2017 Colton served on the Percussion staff for 5points Independent, where they placed as WGI Independent Open Finalists in 2016 & 2017. Colton is a Fall 2016 graduate of Texas State University in San Marcos, Texas where he was actively involved in the Marching Band, Percussion Ensemble, Symphonic Winds, and the Symphony Orchestra. During his time at Texas State, Colton studied Percussion with Professors Kari Klier, Robert Lopez & Genaro Gonzalez. Outside of Texas State, Colton was an active member in Drum Corps International and Winter Guard International from 2012 to 2015, marching in the Revolution Drum & Bugle Corps, Genesis Drum & Bugle Corps, and the Crossmen Drum & Bugle Corps. Colton currently resides in San Antonio, Texas with his Fiance Chrystal Frost and their dog Moose.
