Congratulations to all the performers! Here, we share some of their reactions to being invited to appear at the 2009 Midwest Clinic.

“My early years at ‘Midwest’ were ones of inspiration and awe, as I finally had the chance to meet the composers whose music I had performed as a young musician. Of course, hearing the ensembles and attending the clinics was especially memorable. Now my musicians and I have the opportunity to add to this rich history. It is a very great honor, which we enthusiastically embrace.”
— Rodney Winther, Director, CCM Chamber Players, Cincinnati, Ohio

“When I found out about the invitation, I felt a huge sense of joy and could not think straight for a few moments. My mind started thinking about the long road ahead, and how it would be possible if planned well in advance. It's taking a couple of nights to get a full night’s sleep because of the awesome task ahead.”
— John Studzinski, Director, Willis Junior High Jazz Band, Chandler, Arizona

“I attended the Midwest Clinic for the first time this past December. I had considered applying to have my orchestra perform, but wanted to ensure that it would be a worthwhile experience for my students before doing so. By noon on the first day, I was convinced. The Midwest Clinic has an exceptionally positive atmosphere and is truly a celebration of music education. I could only hope that my students would be able to experience it. Upon receiving the news they had been invited to perform, I bolted out of my office and ran down the hall to tell our principal. I asked him to keep it quiet until I was able to tell the students in person. We both failed miserably at this. Within 45 minutes the entire administration and several of the faculty members had already heard the news. When I made the announcement in class the following day, the students cheered wildly. The look of pride on their faces is something I hope I never forget.”
— Amy Williams, Tejeda Middle School Honor Orchestra, San Antonio, Texas

The Midwest Clinic encourages you to apply to appear at a future conference. Each November, performance applications and clinic proposal forms become available on this website. They are due the following March. Good luck to all the applicants!
