Discover the very best gift you can share with your students

If you have students who are contemplating a career in music education, be encouraged to take advantage of The Midwest Clinic’s High School Institute in Downtown Chicago. In its seventh year, this critically important initiative is designed to introduce aspiring young music educators to the realities of being a college music major and contributing member of the instrumental music education profession.

Participants will team up with current university music education majors to experience an all-day, jam-packed schedule on Thursday, December 19, 2019. Among the many benefits your students will receive are:

Close up of a saxaphone.
Leadership training: Students will hear about leadership strategies from inspiring speakers including Dr. Tim Lautzenheiser, a passionate leader and world-renowned teacher in the field of music education.

Exhibit hall access: Like a “Disneyland for band nerds” as one student so excitedly put it, the exhibit hall features the latest and greatest in music education tools, instruments and technologies. Your students can even download and print out a Wish List they can take home and share with their parents.

Lectures from music education experts/pedagogues:
High-profile speakers are carefully selected each year to lead sessions that are relevant to future music educators.

Live performances: Students will have the opportunity to see and hear incredible performances by groups traveling in from around the world, including the finest school ensembles in the United States. Past performances have included those by the U.S. Army Band and Wynton Marsalis. See the High School Institute schedule for this year’s concerts.

Mentoring from college students: Current college students will be onsite to answer questions about the college application process and what it’s like to be a music major at a university.

There is limited enrollment to ensure all participants will get special attention from beginning to end, so move quickly and register your students to guarantee these music educators of tomorrow have this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
