Meet LaToya Webb

LaToya Webb is a native of Richmond, Virginia, and is currently pursuing her Doctor of Philosophy degree in Instrumental Music Education while also serving as a Graduate Teaching Assistant for the Department of Music at Auburn University. Ms. Webb is an instructor for undergraduate courses, and a student conductor of the Auburn University Symphonic Winds. Prior to her appointment at Auburn, Ms. Webb served as a music teacher for the District of Columbia Public Charter Schools and Richmond Public Schools. 

Ms. Webb holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Interdisciplinary Studies with concentrations in Music and Education and a Master of Music degree in Music Education with a Clarinet Emphasis from Norfolk State University. Ms. Webb earned a second Master of Music degree in Instrumental Conducting from George Mason University, where she studied under Professor Mark Camphouse, Professor Anthony Maiello, and Dr. Dennis Layendecker. 

Ms. Webb has been a conducting recipient of the CBDNA Mike Moss Diversity Fellowship, where she studied with Dr. Glen Adsit and Dr. Edward Cummings at the University of Hartford. Ms. Webb was also a conducting masterclass participant at the CBDNA/NBA Southern Division Conference, where she studied with Professor Emeritus Ray Cramer. More recently, Ms. Webb was selected as one of five conductor/participants to attend the 2019 U.S. Army Band Conductors Workshop where she studied with guest clinicians Michael Haithcock, Director of Bands at the University of Michigan, and Colonel Andrew Esch, The U.S. Army Band "Pershing's Own" Leader, and Commander.

Ms. Webb's professional affiliations include the Golden Key International Honour Society, Gamma Beta Phi Society, the National Association for Music Education, Alabama Music Educators Association, the College Band Directors National Association, Tau Beta Sigma National Honorary Band Sorority, Inc., and Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.
