Performer Bio Synopsis

Shadow Ridge Middle School opened in 2005 to serve the southern regions of the Town of Flower Mound and City of Lewisville, which are suburbs of Dallas and Fort Worth, Texas. The Shadow Ridge Band Program is the largest student group in Shadow Ridge MS. With a student body of 690, 240 students participate in band ensembles including Beginner Band, Jazz Band, Symphonic Band and Honor Winds. All students begin in the sixth grade in homogenous classes with the average beginning band enrollment of 90 students. Honor Winds, Symphonic Band and Jazz Band are composed of seventh and eighth grade students. Each band class rehearses four days a week. The Shadow Ridge Honor Winds is the most advanced performing band. The 76 members of Honor Winds have weekly sectionals in addition to meeting daily to prepare for concerts, pep rallies, assemblies, contests and other events. Ensembles at Shadow Ridge have consistently earned sweepstakes at UIL Concert & Sightreading contests, have been selected by the Foundation for Music Education as an eight time National Winner in the National Wind Band Honors project (2010-2015, 2017, 2018) and have been awarded grand champions of various music festivals in the DFW area. In 2012, the Shadow Ridge Honor Winds performed at The Midwest Clinic, and most recently has placed 3rd in 2014 and 5th in the 2016 Texas CC Honor Band Contest. Individually, students have earned recognition through participation in the Lewisville ISD Solo and Ensemble Contest, as members in the All-District and All-Region Bands and at various instrumental solo festivals in the North Texas region. Many members of the Shadow Ridge Band go on to make high school All-State as well as participate in the Greater Dallas Youth Orchestra and the Lone Star Youth Orchestra. The Shadow Ridge Band is a proud feeder of the Flower Mound High School Band!
