Performer Bio Synopsis
The Marcus High School percussion program, under the direction of Kennan Wylie, has received national acclaim as well as impressive academic and musical accomplishments by their students. Previous awards and achievements include: Performances at the Texas Music Educators Association Convention, 1998. 2002, 2004, 2008. Performance at 2007 Midwest Band of Orchestra Clinic. Winners of PASIC "Call for Tapes" in 1999, 2003, and 2011. Ten National Championship titles at the PASIC Marching Drumline Competition. Consistent placement of multiple students in All Region and State bands. The group has performed with various guest artists, including Dave Weckl, Gregg Bissonette, Steve Smith, Ignacio Berrora, Simon Phillips, Bob Becker, Dave Samuels, Sonny Emory, Alex Acuna, Horacio Hernandez, Janis Potter, Andy Narell, She-e Wu, and country star Shania Twain. The percussion program includes the chamber ensemble, large ensemble, the steel band, the Afro- Brazilian ensemble, and the marching percussion ensemble.

Conductor's Bio
Kennan Wylie holds a Bachelors and Masters degree in Music Education from the University of North Texas. He was an adjunct professor of percussion at University of Arlington for ten years and is currently the Percussion Instructor at Marcus High School in Flower Mound, Texas.Under his direction over the past several years, the Marcus group has received national acclaim both on and off the field, including ten national championship titles at the P.A.S.I.C. Marching Competition. Marcus H.S. also won the 1999, 2003, and 2011 P.A.S. “Call for Tapes” as well as performed at the 2007 Midwest Clinic. K. Wylie Publications has a full line of beginning percussionist instructional books, solos, and ensembles. “Simple Steps” is the instructional series written by Kennan Wylie. He has presented clinics at the Texas Music Educators Association convention, and Percussive Arts Society International Convention. He currently served as president of the Texas Percussive Arts Society from 2011 – 2017. Wylie is the author of the newly released Hal Leonard Complete Drum Set Method. He is endorsed by Yamaha, Zildjian, Evans Drumheads, and Innovative Percussion.
