The South Middle School Symphony Orchestra

Conductor's Bio

Omar Estrella is the Head Orchestra director at South Middle School in the Edinburg Consolidated school district. He graduated from The University of Texas-Pan American where he earned a bachelors degree in Music Performance with an emphasis in Double Bass under the direction of Dr. George Amorim. During his tutelage, he won auditions with the Valley, Victoria, and Corpus Christi Symphonies. He helped create and was president of the Bass Club at UTPA. He also taught privately in the surrounding districts where his students were very successful in their solo, regional, and All-State competitions. Most recently, his school was able to achieve a sweepstakes awards with all three of their ensembles. He also has a cat named Nightwing which he loves very much.
