Performer Bio Synopsis

A new take on the classic style, New Chicago Brass (NCB) represents the new generation of professional brass performance in Chicago. Since its inception in 2012, 10-piece ensemble has blown away audiences in the Chicagoland area and beyond. NCB began as a dream and an idea voiced during a Civic Orchestra of Chicago workshop with Yo-Yo Ma’s Silk Road Ensemble. NCB’s founders were inspired to act and gathered colleagues from and alumni of Civic for a reading session. Realizing how much fun they were having, NCB was officially formed and was soon self-producing concerts and performing in a variety of spaces, from Symphony Center – home of the Chicago Symphony – to Revolution Brewery. NCB is a frequent contributor to concert series in the northern Illinois and southern Wisconsin area, and is looking to expand its reach in the coming seasons. New Chicago Brass enjoys a varied repertoire, from traditional brass audience favorites like Gabrieli to contemporary works composed specifically for brass ensemble. NCB draws its members from the pool of talented young brass players in Chicago. Musicians who appear with NCB can be found regularly performing with such groups as the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Music of the Baroque, Lyric Opera of Chicago, the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra, and numerous professional orchestras throughout the world.
