Creating a Culture of Excellence in a Title One School

Clinic Synopsis:

Chris Pineda, director of bands at Liberty Junior High School in Richardson (TX), reinvigorated a low-performing band program to become a model for music education in any environment, much less a school in which, the majority of the students are economically disadvantaged. Pineda and his building principal, Stephen Quisenberry, will share concrete strategies for creating a culture of excellence that capitalized on the circumstances that, for others, may have seemed like obstacles.
