Detrich Morrison-Jones is currently the assistant band director at Columbus North High School, and one of the band directors at Schmitt Elementary, Southside Elementary, and Parkside Elementary in Columbus, Indiana. In this position, Detrich teaches AP Music Theory, Jazz, and Band. He has his Master’s in Wind Conducting from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music where his conducting teacher was Kevin Holzman. He earned his Bachelor of Music Education degree from the Indiana University-Jacobs School of Music. While at the Jacobs School of Music, he had the pleasure of studying with Dale Clevenger. As an educator, Detrich has worked with many students ranging from elementary school age to the elderly. As an avid member of his community, Detrich has regularly given masterclasses and clinics to multiple bands and orchestras in Indiana and North Carolina. He is a dynamic, multitalented pedagogue originally from New Hill, North Carolina. His love of music originated as a member of his family's touring gospel choir named the E&S Jones family singers. This choir of thirty powerful singers’ mission is to promote positivity and love through singing. Through these experiences, Detrich fell in love with music.
