From Boston to Baghdad, Tampa to Toronto, The United States Army Field Band has been thrilling audiences of all ages for more than six decades. As the premier touring musical representative for the United States Army, this internationally-acclaimed organization travels thousands of miles each year presenting a variety of music to enthusiastic audiences throughout the nation and abroad. Through these concerts, the Field Band fosters the support of the American people for members of the armed forces and supports diplomatic efforts around the world. Since its formation in March 1946, the Field Band has appeared in all fifty states and in more than thirty countries on four continents. The organization’s four performing components, the Concert Band, the Soldiers’ Chorus, the Jazz Ambassadors, and Six-String Soldiers, each travel over 100 days annually. Tours include formal public concerts, school assemblies, educational outreach programs, festivals, and radio and television appearances. The United States Army Field Band is considered by music critics to be one of the most versatile and inspiring musical organizations in the world. Its members, selected by highly-competitive audition, represent some of the finest musical talent in America. More than six decades as the military’s most traveled musicians have earned them the title, “The Musical Ambassadors of the Army.”

Conductor's Bio

A native of Augusta, Georgia, Chief Warrant Officer Alexander Davis currently serves as Bandmaster and Officer-In-Charge of the Jazz Ambassadors of The United States Army Field Band at Fort George G. Meade, Maryland. Prior to this assignment, he served as Commander of the Ninth Army Band stationed at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, Alaska and the United States Army Maneuver Center of Excellence Band in Fort Benning, Georgia. CW3 Davis began his Army career in 2004 as a unit supply specialist in the Army Reserves. In 2006, he entered active duty service as a trombonist in the 82nd Airborne Division Band in Fort Bragg, North Carolina, and deployed with the band from 2007 to 2008 in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. Other assignments include the 434th Signal Corps Band of Fort Gordon, Georgia, and the 25th Infantry Division Band of Schofield Barracks, Hawaii, where he was accepted into the Army Warrant Officer/Bandmaster Program. Davis’ awards and decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal (1 OLC), Army Commendation Medal (1 OLC), Army Achievement Medal (1 OLC), Army Good Conduct Medal (2nd Award), National Defense Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal (1 Campaign Star), Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Noncommissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon (2nd Award), Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon (3rd Award), NATO ISAF Service Medal, the Meritorious Unit Award, Basic Parachutist Badge, and Air Assault Badge. Chief Warrant Officer Davis holds an Associate of Arts Degree in Military Technology Leadership and Bachelor of Arts Degree in Music from Thomas Edison University. He studied music at Florida A&M University where he was a member of the renowned “Marching 100” Marching Band. CW3 Davis is a member of Kappa Kappa Psi National Honorary Band Fraternity, Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Inc., and the Adjutant General Corps Regimental Association.
