The Midwest Clinic will present its 66th Annual Conference on December 19-22, 2012 at McCormick Place West in Chicago, IL. Our Board of Directors continues to investigate new ways to serve this unique and important gathering of instrumental music teachers, students, composers, conductors, clinicians, publishers, and manufactures. The 2012 Clinic will premiere many new events and products, along with stimulating clinics, inspiring concerts, and unrivaled opportunities to network with the profession's best and brightest.
We are pleased to announce that Maestro Leonard Slatkin will be a part of the offerings this year. He will conduct an open rehearsal on Thursday morning with the Lone Star Wind Orchestra. This will be followed by “A Conversation with Leonard Slatkin.” On Thursday afternoon, he will rehearse a high school orchestra in an open rehearsal, and that same evening will conduct the Lone Star Wind Orchestra in a special concert.
Also, Wynton Marsalis, a Pulitzer Prize winning musician, composer, bandleader and educator, will give an address to our attendees during the conference and will perform an open rehearsal in the jazz track. These are just a few of the special events taking place in December, making this a Midwest Clinic not to miss.
Sincerely,
Richard C. Crain, president
