Manager, Fraud & Forensic Specialist Group - Deloitte

Michelle Alano is a Manager in Deloitte’s Fraud & Forensic Specialist Group within the Audit & Assurance Practice. In this role, she works with audit teams to develop their audit responses related to the consideration of fraud in financial statement audits and supports audit teams when situations arise that may warrant an independent investigation.

Prior to her current role, Michelle was an External Auditor at Deloitte, where she executed and supervised financial statement audit procedures, including engagement risk assessment, internal control testing, and analysis of complex accounting transactions under US GAAP and IFRS.

Michelle is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and a Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE), and is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE).

Michelle earned her Bachelor of Arts, summa cum laude, from Augustana College, where she triple-majored in Accounting, Business Administration with a Concentration in Finance, and Spanish for Professional Use.

Michelle was fortunate to have participated in the Midwest Band & Orchestra Clinic as a student. A former French horn player, Michelle developed her love of music through her own musical experiences and the mentorship of Brian Covey and James Lambrecht. She is proud to support the organization’s mission of expanding music education opportunities, and brings to the Board a commitment to thoughtful stewardship and strong governance.
