The Midwest Clinic offers engaging learning opportunities college music majors or college students of any age looking to earn course credit. Choose from multiple options offered by VanderCook College of Music.

There is also our College Night, which provides students and teachers alike to visit with music school representatives of eighty of the nation's leading colleges, universities and branches of the United States Military.

Finally, there are also Continuing Professional Development Units. You can earn a "Certificate of Continuing Education" and advance your general knowledge of music from a staff of the nation's top minds and leaders in music.


College Credit - VanderCook College of Music

Make the most of your experience at The Midwest Clinic, International Band and Orchestra Conference! Earn up to two semester hours of graduate credit attending clinic sessions and concerts at McCormick Place West, located at 2301 S. Lake Shore Drive, December 15 - 18, 2021.

Special tuition pricing! As co-founder of The Midwest Clinic, VanderCook is able to offer special pricing for MECA students. A notebook summarizing and critiquing all sessions and concerts attended, including copies of all handouts, concert programs and other supporting materials, must be submitted no later than January 24, 2022. Sample notebooks will be available upon request at the VanderCook booth (1416) located in The Midwest Clinic exhibit area.  

Course requirements:

1. All registrations must be completed and received with full tuition payment by December 18, 2021. VanderCook accepts phone and fax registrations with Visa, Discover or MasterCard payment information. On-site registrants may also pay with cash or a check written out to VanderCook College of Music.

2. Students must attend 12.5 hours of concerts, clinics and/or lectures for each semester hour of credit taken.

3. Prior to the Midwest Clinic, students will receive access to Schoology, VanderCook's online platform. Following the Midwest Clinic, students are required to participate in two discussions and respond to at least two other discussion submissions. Students will submit written responses summarizing and critiquing all sessions and concerts attended. PDFs of all handouts, concert programs and other supporting materials must also be submitted with assignments.

4. All discussions and uploads must be completed and uploaded by January 24, 2022.
