Meet Giovanni Clarke

From the beautiful islands of The Bahamas Giovanni T. Clarke is an accomplished educator and conductor with over a decade of leadership across K–12, higher education, and community music programs. Recognized for building innovative, high-performing ensembles, he specializes in program development, curriculum redesign, and student-centered instruction that strengthens both artistic excellence and academic achievement. His leadership has empowered hundreds of students to access post-secondary opportunities, securing more than $5 million in scholarships across academic and technical pathways.  Mr. Clarke currently serves as a Doctoral Conducting Associate at the University of Maryland, studying with Dr. Michael Votta. In this role, he mentors emerging conductors, supports regional and national initiatives, and oversees the administration of university concert ensembles. His work reflects a sustained commitment to leadership development, mentorship, and organizational growth within music education.  A respected voice in the field, Clarke has delivered keynote presentations, served on national arts education boards, and contributed to policy and equity initiatives. His honors include the College Band Directors National Association Mike Moss Conducting Fellowship Award, multiple Teacher of the Year recognitions in The Bahamas, the Lou Adams Award for instrumental conducting, and the National Prime Minister’s Cup for leadership and innovation.
