Meet Brittany Barry

Brittany Barry is a conductor, music educator, and clarinetist located in Montreal, Canada. She is currently a doctoral student in Wind Conducting at McGill University, where she is an assistant conductor of the McGill Wind Orchestra and Chamber Winds and a co-conductor of the McGill Symphonic Band. Her teaching experience spans K-12 and university, most recently working at the University of Delaware as a Graduate Assistant of athletic bands. She has also worked with numerous secondary school groups as a clinician, both in the United States and Canada. Passionate about teaching and conducting pedagogy, Ms. Barry’s doctoral research seeks to address performance-related pain among conductors through science-based practices like pre-performance interventions. During the 2025-2026 season, in addition to large ensembles, Ms. Barry performed her doctoral conducting recital at the Schulich School of Music. She is currently looking forward to participating in the Newfound Chamber Winds Conducting Fellowship as a Conducting Associate. At McGill University, Ms. Barry studies conducting with Dr. Danielle Gaudry. She also holds a dual Master's in Wind Conducting and Clarinet Performance from the University of Delaware, where she studied with Dr. Lauren Reynolds and Dr. Christopher Nichols, respectively, and a Bachelor of Music Education degree from Gettysburg College. She currently serves as a co-chair of the Graduate Wind Conductors Association.
