Meet John Mange

John Mange began pursuing the D.M.A. in Wind Band Conducting at the University of Michigan in Fall 2024 as a student of Jason Fettig. He has been the wind arranger and show design lead for the SHS Marching Black Knights since 2016 and has contributed several “flex” band arrangements as part of the Library of Congress’ Teaching with Primary Sources grant program (available for free on the Connecticut MEA website). In May 2024 his Sonatina for Trumpet and Organ was premiered by Drs. Steven Felix, trumpet (Williams College) and Jonathan Wessler, organ (First Lutheran Church, Boston, MA) on the International Trumpet Guild’s Virtual New Works Recital. Mr. Mange holds a B.M. in Trumpet Performance, Music Theory, and Music Education summa cum laude from the University of Massachusetts Amherst, and an M.M.Ed. with Composition Minor from the University of Hartford’s The Hartt School.
