The Midwest Clinic is proud to host the largest music education-focused conference in the world. The Clinic draws over 18,000 educators, performers, and industry professionals. Midwest is committed to creating a diverse, inclusive, and welcoming conference for all. Midwest maintains a zero-tolerance policy for harassment and discriminatory behavior.
All attendees to the Clinic, including clinicians, performers, organizers, staff, guests, directors, exhibitors, sponsors, and invited guests, must abide by the following Code of Conduct.
Be Kind, Courteous, and Professional
The Midwest Clinic is focused on performance, learning and music education. Please allow others the opportunity to learn through consideration and respect in your speech and actions. Professional and courteous behavior toward each other and Midwest staff is expected of all participants. As people of all ages, including minors, attend the conference, attendees will be held to the highest standard of behavior.
Unacceptable forms of behavior include:
- Racist, discriminatory, harassing, or bullying speech or behavior related but not limited to race, national origin, ethnicity, sex, gender identity, age, marital status, sexual orientation, disability, color, creed, religion, veteran status, or other protected class;
- Lewd, disruptive, or offensive conduct, including threatening language;
- Inappropriate conduct due to alcohol or controlled substance use;
- Defaming, maligning, or making false statements against another attendee;
- Vandalism or destruction of property; and
- Conduct that violates the policies of McCormick Place, the laws of the city of Chicago, the laws of the state of Illinois or the laws of the United States.
This code of conduct extends to online interactions, including social media.
McCormick Place Security
If there is an immediate threat to the physical safety of conference attendees which requires Fire, Medical, or Police assistance, please contact McCormick Security Services:
- Dial Extension 6060 from a house or exhibit booth telephone.
- Dial 312-791-6060 from an outside phone line, including the Hyatt Regency McCormick Place Hotel.
- Please refrain from calling 911. If you do call 911, also call Security at numbers above.
Stay on the line. Calls are recorded. An officer will answer immediately. Be prepared to identify the location of the emergency by building, level and name of the, meeting room, or corridor.

Reporting an Issue
If you experience or witness an incident that violates the Code of Conduct, please inform the Midwest Clinic staff. Our office is located in Room W476, one level above the main concourse, during all conference operating hours. Call 630.442.3280 to speak with one of our staff. If you wish to remain anonymous, inform member when making your report.
If an attendee is found to have violated the code of conduct, the Midwest Clinic may, in its sole discretion, take any action it deems appropriate, up to and including removing the attendee from the event and barring participation from future conferences.
The Midwest Clinic reserves the right to modify this Code of Conduct with changes effective as of the posting date.
