Performer Bio Synopsis
VanderCook College of Music has been a part of the Midwest Clinic since its origins, sponsoring the very first clinic at a YWCA on the west side of Chicago. The VanderCook Symphonic Band has been invited to perform at every clinic ever since, and we are delighted to share today’s performance with you. The performers you see proudly represent VanderCook and its service to music education, as well as a long-standing tradition of excellence of over 100 years.
In addition to wind and percussion majors, the band includes a number of choral and string music education majors performing on secondary instruments. For many, this is their first year of playing a wind instrument.
Students at VanderCook are engaged in a rigorous curriculum that prepares them to teach band, orchestra, choir and general music at all levels. All students play in the band and orchestra, and sing in the choir. Every student develops competency on all the brass, woodwind, string and percussion instruments along with piano, guitar and voice. These students represent the future of music education in our schools.
Throughout the week of the Midwest Clinic, VanderCook musicians proudly work as set-up and usher personnel, diligently giving attention to every detail. Their service to the Midwest Clinic is yet another important dimension of the comprehensive education degree candidates receive at VanderCook College of Music.

Conductor's Bio
Originally from Itasca, IL, Stacey Larson Dolan is the Undergraduate Dean and Associate Director of Bands at VanderCook College of Music in Chicago, IL. At VanderCook, Mrs. Dolan teaches a variety of music education courses, conducting courses and bands at both the undergraduate and graduate level. Under her co-direction, the VanderCook Symphonic Band is an annual performer at the Midwest Clinic, An International Band and Orchestra Clinic, performing for thousands of music educators and music industry professionals. Mrs. Dolan has acted as a guest conductor and presented workshops at MEA’s and events throughout China and the United States. Her professional affiliations include Phi Beta Mu, NAfME, NBA, and CBDNA and she has been published in the Instrumentalist. Dean Dolan is currently pursuing her doctorate in Educational Studies from University of Northern Colorado.
