Performer Bio Synopsis

The Gulliver Academy Jazz Band was started in 1996, and has enjoyed a wonderful following ever since. This band has performed for many community concerts, including performances for dignitaries, Chamber of Commerce events, and many other school fund raiser events. Throughout the history of this ensemble they have consistently rated amongst best on the district and national stages. Some of their accolades includes the All Star Music Festival Grand National Champions 3 years in a row, OrlandoFest four time Grand National Champion, and consistent Superior ratings at our Districts Music Performance Assessments.

Conductor's Bio

Serving Miami’s music community for three decades, Robert Keating has performed with several of South Florida’s premiere ensembles and is the current Performing Arts Chair at Gulliver Academy, a position held for twenty eight years. His band has received a superior ratings consecutively under his leadership, and has won many local and national awards with his concert and jazz bands. He attended the University of Southern Mississippi and received his BM degree from the University of South Alabama where he studied conducting with Dr. Joe Barry Mullins, and his MM from the University of Miami while he was the graduate assistant to Gilbert Johnson. He was inducted in Phi Beta Mu Honorary Band Directors Fraternity in 2007, and American School Band Directors Association in 2012. Robert enjoys a busy trumpet performing career with groups such as the Miami City Ballet, Florida Grand Opera, Orchestra Miami, Brass Miami, Symphony of the Americas, and the Miami Wind Symphony.
