Performer Bio Synopsis

Ronald Reagan High School opened in 1999 and is located in the North East Independent School District in San Antonio, Texas. The Ronald Reagan Band currently serves over 300 students who participate in four concerts bands, marching band, jazz band, large and small chamber ensembles, color guard and dance. The middle school feeder programs for the Reagan Band are Jose Lopez Middle School and Barbara Bush Middle School. The Ronald Reagan Band thrives on its strong booster, administrative, and community support. The Ronald Reagan High School Wind Ensemble is the top performing ensemble in the Reagan Band program. The Reagan Wind Ensemble is a consistent Texas University Interscholastic League Concert and Sight Reading Contest Sweepstakes Winner. They were named a Texas Music Educators Association State Honor Band Finalist in 2005, 2011, 2015, and 2017, and in 2016 the Reagan Wind Ensemble was named a National Winner in the Mark of Excellence Competition. The Reagan Marching Band is a Consistent Bands of America Regional, Super Regional, and Grand National Finalist, a Texas State Marching Contest Finalist, and received the John Philip Sousa Foundation Sudler Shield of Excellence in 2006. The Reagan Marching Band was selected to March in the 125th Tournament of Roses Parade and the 2019 Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. Chamber Ensembles from Ronald Reagan High School have been featured at the 69th Annual Midwest Clinic, the Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition and the M Prize International Chamber Music Competition.

Conductor's Bio

Daniel Morrison is currently the Director of Bands at Ronald Reagan High School in San Antonio, TX where he manages and teaches the Marching Band and conducts the Wind Ensemble. In addition, he assists with the Symphonic Band, Concert Band and various chamber ensembles. In his time at Reagan, the concert bands have received superior ratings at the UIL Concert and Sight Reading Contest, and the Marching Band has been a consistent Bands of America Regional, Super Regional and Grand National Finalist as well as a UIL State Marching Contest finalist. Under Mr. Morrison’s direction, the Marching Band is a two-time winner of the Bands of America Conroe Regional and was selected to march in the 2018 Rose Parade and the 2019 Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. The Wind Ensemble was a TMEA State Honor Band Finalist as well as a Mark of Excellence National Winner. Mr. Morrison attended Prospect High School in Mt. Prospect, Illinois and graduated from the University of Illinois with a Bachelor’s and a Master’s Degree in Music Education. As a student at U of I, he studied with James Keene, Joseph Manfredo, Ronald Romm and Michael Ewald. Dan currently resides in San Antonio with his beautiful wife Ellie and their dog Pudge.
