Performer Bio Synopsis
Wakeland High School opened its doors in August of 2006 and is a 5A High School with a current student enrollment of over 2,000 serving grades 9-12 in the Frisco Independent School District. Wakeland High School serves a diverse and highly motivated student population and both the students and faculty support a positive and encouraging campus climate. “All In, Everyone, Everyday”. Frisco, TX is located on the north side of the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex and was named the fastest-growing city in the United States in 2017. The Wakeland High School music program offers its students a multitude of ensembles to participate and perform in. There are currently four concert bands that rehearse each day, jazz band that rehearses twice a week, brass choir that rehearses once a week, musical pit orchestra that performs once a year, a percussion ensemble that rehearses every other day, a competitive marching band, full orchestra, string orchestra, choir, music theory, and numerous pep-band opportunities that occur throughout the school year. The music curriculum in Frisco ISD is developed from K-12 to be vertically aligned through all campuses. Students begin on instrument-specific curriculum in the 6th grade designed to pace their performance standards from Level I (6th Grade) to Level 7 (Varsity HS Band). Through professional learning communities (PLCs) and vertical alignment, the directors at both the middle schools and high schools work closely with all students as they are developing their skills. The goal of the entire music program in the Wakeland High School cluster is to provide a full and immersive music experience for each member to enhance their high school music education experience.

Conductor's Bio
Mr. Teed joined the Wakeland Band in 2018 as the former Director of Percussion at The Colony High School in The Colony, TX and Rockwall-Heath High School in Heath, TX. The Colony High School has had many individual and ensemble successes during Mr. Teed’s time including competing at the 5A State Marching Contest for the first time in nearly 10-years. Mr. Teed is originally from The Woodlands, Texas where he had the privilege of being under the direction of Mr. Andrew Salmon at The Woodlands High School. He holds a master’s degree in Percussion Performance and a bachelor’s degree in Music Education from the University of Oklahoma, where he was awarded the Ronald J. Dyer award for outstanding contributions to the OU Percussion Studio. During his graduate degree, Mr. Teed taught the University of Oklahoma Drumline alongside Mr. Glen Buecker, was the Assistant Director of the OU Steel Drum Band, and was the Director for the “Sooner Showmen” Women’s Basketball Band. Mr. Teed has performed at numerous conventions and festivals including the Classical Music Festival in Eisenstadt, Austria, The National Convention on Percussion Pedagogy in Norman, Oklahoma, and the Percussive Arts Society International Convention in Indianapolis, Indiana. During his time at OU, he earned first place in the University of Oklahoma Concerto Competition in the Graduate Division (2013) and Undergraduate Division (2011). He was a founding member of the Norman Philharmonic Orchestra. His professional affiliations include the Texas Music Educators Association, the Percussive Arts Society. He is also an educational artist for Vic Firth and Remo Drumheads.
