Lynbrook High School Chamber Orchestra

  • The Lynbrook Chamber Orchestra has achieved many honors, including being invited to perform at the 2019 Midwest Clinic. In 2018, the Orchestra performed in Spain (Barcelona, Zaragoza, Valencia). In 2016, the Orchestra was selected to perform at the California All-State Music Education Conference (CASMEC). In June of 2016, the Symphony Orchestra traveled to New York and performed at Carnegie Hall. The Chamber Orchestra has been featured as a clinic ensemble at the CMEA Bay Section winter conference, and each year multiple students are selected to All-State. The Lynbrook Chamber Orchestra has consistently earned unanimous superior ratings at CMEA festivals and other festivals throughout the state.

  • Mike Pakaluk
  • Mike Pakaluk holds a B.M. in Music Education from the Hartt School of Music, and a M.M. degree in Trumpet Performance from the University of New Mexico. He has been teaching high school instrumental music since 2006 and is currently the Instrumental Music Director at Lynbrook High School in San Jose, where he directs the Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Band, Concert Band, Chamber Orchestra, String Orchestra, and the Viking Marching Band & Colorguard. His groups have consistently earned high ratings in festivals, and each year a significant number of students participate in All-State and county honor groups. Under his direction, the Lynbrook Orchestra performed at CASMEC 2016 and most recently has been extended an invitation to perform at the Midwest Clinic (2019). In 2019, he was the recipient of the CMEA Bay Section "Outstanding Orchestra Educator" award. As a trumpet player, Mr. Pakaluk has performed with the New Mexico Symphony Orchestra, the San Luis Obispo Symphony, the Santa Maria Philharmonic, the Damon Castillo Band, The Peninsula Symphony, the San Francisco Wind Symphony, the South Bay Dub All-Stars, among others. He is currently a regular member of the Menlo Brass Quintet He has been employed as a trumpet/brass instructor by Santa Clara Vanguard Music and Performing Arts and Santa Clara University. Mr. Pakaluk is active as a clinician and adjudicator for CMEA Bay Section and Music in the Parks, and has been a board member of the California Band Directors Association (CBDA), the California Orchestra Directors Association (CODA), and SCCBDA (Santa Clara County Band Directors Association).
