Performer Bio Synopsis

Madrid Royal Conservatory Trumpet Ensemble. This trumpet ensemble works weekly as a second and third year subject of the Bachelor Programme in the trumpet specialty of the Madrid Royal Conservatory of Music. Throughout each school year, several concerts are held for institutions in the city of Madrid and the Spanish government, as well as in the most important auditoriums throughout Spanish geography. Since the beginning of its activity in the 2004/2005 academic year, numerous trumpet students have benefited from this program, performing the repertoire of composers such as E.Ewazen, A.Plog, J.M.Stephenson, E.Morales, K.Mckee, W.Escher, J.Pérez Garrido, A.Valero, D.Brossé, T.Stevens, P.Terracini, B.Britten and W.Brandt, among others. Also, the group performs adaptations of M.de Falla, I.Albeniz, E.Granados and J. Rodrigo, as well as Spanish popular music and Zarzuela. The directors of the ensemble have been Enrique Rioja Lis, Ramón Cueves Pastor, José Antonio García Sevilla, Óscar Gonzalo Grande Pombo and Francisco Javier Alcaraz León.

Conductor's Bio

Javier Alcaraz teaches at the Madrid Royal Conservatory of Music (RCSMM) and Professional Conservatory of Music in Alcalá de Henares, and also works as orchestral trumpeter, chamber musician and soloist. Previously, he taught as Associate professor of Orchestral Repertoire of Trumpet and Contemporary Music Repertoire at “Conservatori superior de les Illes Balears” (Mallorca). He has also delivered masterclasses at Grand Valley State University (Michigan),el “Sistema de Coros y Orquestas” (El Salvador) and Menorca Brass Festival. In collaboration with the University of Alcalá de Henares, he organized the Alcalá Trumpetfest, an international trumpet festival, featuring leading performers, educators, and composers both from Spain and abroad. Being a chamber music enthusiast, Javier has recently recorded an album with the Spanish Original Flugels and Trumpets ensemble, featuring all the works for trumpet ensemble by composer James M. Stephenson. He regularly performs with Madrid Trumpet Consort and La Regalada, groups that play trumpet ensemble music from the Baroque with historical instruments. As an orchestra musician, Javier has performed with Spanish National Orchestra, Gran Teatre del Liceu Symphony Orchestra, Madrid Symphony Orchestra, Navarra Symphony Orchestra, Euskadi Symphony Orchestra, Cordoba Orchestra, Oviedo Filarmonia, Vallés Symphony Orchestra, Shen Yun Orchestra and Barcelona Symphonic Wind Band. Javier has performed under the baton of Kent Nagano, Daniel Harding, Christoph Eschenbach, Simone Young, Nicola Luisotti, Juanjo Mena and David Afkham, among others. He enjoyed performing around the world in venues like Lincoln Center, Carnegie Hall, Los Angeles Opera, Tokyo Bunka Kaikan, Palau de la Música Catalana and Gran Teatre del Liceu. He has made recordings for Mezzoand Netflix, as well as been broadcasted on Spanish Radio and Television.
