Performer Bio Synopsis

The Lambert Wind Ensemble was formed in the fall of 2021 shortly after Kevin Morrison’s appointment as the Director of Winds Studies. Since The Wind Ensemble’s formation, it has been selected in consecutive years to play at the Music For All Southeastern Regional Festival in Atlanta, GA and the Midwest Clinic International Band and Orchestra Conference. Lambert High School, in Suwanee, Georgia, is under the direction of Tonya Mashburn, Executive Program Director of Bands; Kevin Morrison, Director of Wind Studies; & Anna Steltenpohl, Director of Color Guard. Lambert is one of eight premier Forsyth County Schools System High Schools. The mission of the Lambert Band program is to provide a safe, supportive, and inclusive musical environment where all stakeholders may develop and thrive. The Lambert Wind Ensemble is the top of four skill-based wind band courses offered at Lambert High School. Other course offerings include multiple skill-based percussion classes, jazz band, color guard, and music theory. Since Lambert opened in 2009, the LB has achieved many honors and accolades. Noteworthy accomplishments include invited performances at the 2023 Music For All Southeastern Concert Festival, a performance at the Georgia Music Educators Association In-Service Conference by the Lambert Saxophone Quartet, four-time Bands of America Regional Class AAAA Champions, WGI Scholastic A-Class World Championships Semi-finalist Winterguard, multiple WGI Scholastic World Class World Championships Finalist Indoor Drumline, multiple Masterwork classification LGPE Straight-Superior ratings, 5-year record holder as having the most winds and percussion students accepted into GMEA All-State Band or Orchestra, and by-invitation performances in England, Italy, and the Bahamas. The LB would like to recognize and celebrate the following people: middle school directors Dr. Andrew Poor & Mr. Nathaniel Hughes, South Forsyth Middle School, and Mr. Hunter McGee & Katie Larkin, Riverwatch Middle School. They would also like to thank LHS Principal Mrs. Amanda Thrower; LHS Fine Arts Administrator Ms. Rebecca Parker ; LHS Performing Arts Department Head Mr. Ryan Wason; and FCSS Fine Arts Coordinator Catherine Keyser.

Conductor's Bio

Kevin Morrison is the Director of Wind Studies at Lambert High School in Suwanee, Georgia. He serves as the Conductor for the Lambert Wind Ensemble, Assistant Coordinator of Competitive Ensembles, and coordinates the overall approach to the winds throughout the Lambert Band Program. Since joining the Lambert community in 2021, Mr. Morrison's ensembles have received critical acclaim, most notably receiving invitations to perform at the Midwest Clinic, the Music For All Southeastern Concert Festival, and has had small ensembles selected to play at the Georgia Music Educators Association In-Service Conference. The Lambert Marching Band has received multiple high honor recognitions, including two Bands of America Regional Finals performances and an invitation to the London New Year's Day Parade. Overall, enrollment in the Lambert Bands has increased by nearly 40% during Mr. Morrison's tenure with the program. In addition to his work with the Lambert Bands, Mr. Morrison is the Visual Caption Supervisor for the Carolina Crown Drum and Bugle Corps. He has also worked with the Spirit of Atlanta Drum & Bugle Corps, the Boston Crusaders Drum & Bugle Corps, and the Cadets Drum & Bugle Corps. He has been a featured clinician and teacher leader for the Music For All Summer Symposium and is a highly sought-after pageantry arts designer, instructor, and adjudicator. His most notable collaborations include Catawba Ridge High School in Fort Mill, SC., Park Vista High School Band in Lake Worth, FL, and Nation Ford High School in Fort Mill, SC. Mr. Morrison completed his undergraduate studies in K-12 instrumental music at Auburn University and later earned his Masters in Music Education from the University of South Florida. He also holds a professional certificate in composition and orchestration for television and film from Berklee College of Music. He and his wife Sarah live in Georgia and love to travel often!
