Performer Bio Synopsis

The Meyerland Sinfonia has a history of excellence decades in the making. Made up of sixth through eighth graders and chosen by audition, they have maintained consistently outstanding standards. The orchestra perennially earns superior ratings at UIL and has been named a commended winner of the Foundation for Music Education's National Orchestra Honors. The Sinfonia performs a varied repertoire which includes classics of the string orchestra literature, music by modern composers, as well as Broadway and film music. One of the orchestra's most cherished traditions is the annual 8th grade concerto concert, in which each of the 8th graders who choose may perform a concerto or showpiece with the orchestra accompanying them. Through this they have played works of Mozart, Saint-Saens, Bruch, Haydn, Kresiler and others.
