Performer Bio Synopsis
Established in 2014, The Prior Lake High School Percussion Ensemble is both a curricular and co-curricular ensemble. During their band class students receive instruction in solo preparation and chamber ensembles. Those students who want to seek additional enrichment may participate in a co-curricular ensemble. In 2019 and 2024 the Prior Lake High School Percussion Ensemble was selected to perform at the Minnesota Music Educators Midwinter Convention. Additionally, members of the Prior Lake High School Percussion Ensemble have been selected for Minnesota All-State Bands and Orchestra for the past ten consecutive years. The ensemble is dedicated to supporting new percussion works and over the past five years has commissioned “Superior” by Katherine Bergman, “What Lies Within” by Nathan Daughtrey, “Affinity” by Francisco Perez, and “Snow-Bound Silence” by Katherine Bergman.

Conductor's Bio
Justin Schramm is an educator and percussionist based in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Justin currently teaches instrumental music at Prior Lake High School, where he codirects the Prior Lake High School Wind Ensemble, Prior Lake High School Marching Band, Varsity Gold Band, Varsity Blue Band, and Laker Band. Prior to his present position, Justin was the band director at Albany Area High School and general music teacher at St. Paul Preparatory School. He earned his Bachelor of Arts in Music Education from Gustavus Adolphus College and his Master of Arts in Music Education from The Ohio State University.
In 2014, Justin founded the Prior Lake High School Percussion Ensemble, and under his leadership the ensemble was invited to perform at the Minnesota Music Educators Midwinter Convention in 2019 and 2024 and The Midwest Clinic - International Band and Orchestra Conference in 2024.
Prior Lake High School Marching Band travels biannually to both domestic and international destinations, and Justin has conducted the group in Austria, Czech Republic, Puerto Rico, and Hawaii. In 2019 the Prior Lake Wind Ensemble was invited, under Justin’s baton, to perform at the State of Minnesota Inauguration and broadcasted on public radio. Later that year Justin received the Outstanding Young Director Award from the American School Band Directors Association Minnesota Chapter and was recognized as a 2019 Educator of Excellence by the Prior Lake–Savage Area School District. Additionally, Justin was named Activities Advisor of the Year by Prior Lake High School in 2015.
Justin is an active performer and clinician throughout the Twin Cities area. His professional affiliations include the American School Band Directors Association, Minnesota Band Directors Association, Minnesota Music Educators Association, and Percussive Arts Society.
