Performer Bio Synopsis
The Doerre Symphony Orchestra was founded in the Fall of 2011 by Matthew Fehl, Dawn Multop, Aimee Fowler, and Jennifer Wren. Rowina Torres joined the staff in the Fall of 2013, and LeAnn Roth joined the staff in the Fall of 2014. The group consists of members of the Chamber Orchestra and Symphonic Band, the top orchestra and band, from Doerre Intermediate. Students in the DSO meet once a week outside of the school day to rehearse, in addition to meeting daily for their regular band and orchestra class. In its first year of existence, the DSO was chosen as the second runner-up for the Texas Music Educators Association Honor Orchestra Contest, and was chosen as first runner-up in 2013. The DSO has also received consective Sweepstakes Awards at the University Interscholastic League Concert and Sightreading Contest. Students from the DSO are chosen as members of the Region IX Orchestras and Bands, as well as receive medals at the Klein ISD Solo & Ensemble Contest.

Conductor's Bio
Matt Fehl is in his fourteenth year of teaching and sixth year as the Head Band Director at Doerre. Previous teaching posts have included Assistant Band Director positions at Doerre, Oak Ridge High School (Conroe) and Bammel Middle School (Spring). Mr. Fehl received both his Bachelor’s degree and his Master's degree from Sam Houston State University. Mr. Fehl's bands have consistently earned Superior ratings in the Texas UIL Concert and Sight-reading Contests, and Best-in-Class awards at numerous festivals. In 2009 and 2012 The Doerre Band was selected as a Class AA National Finalist in the Mark of Excellence National Wind Band Honors Competition. While collaborating with Mrs. Wren and the Doerre Orchestra staff, the Doerre Symphony Orchestra quickly earned distinction on the state level by earning a 2nd Runner-Up award in the Texas Honor Full Orchestra Contest in its inaugural season (2012), and followed that with a 1st Runner-Up award in 2013. In 2013, Mr. Fehl was named Teacher of the Year by the faculty and staff of Doerre. Mr. Fehl’s professional affiliations include the Texas Music Educators Association, the Texas Bandmasters Association, and the Texas Music Adjudicators Association. Mr. Fehl is a resident of Spring, TX and has wonderful support from his family: wife Julie, son Riley, and daughter Raegan.
A native Texan, Dawn Multop received her education from Sam Houston State University graduating Cum Laude. There she studied with Mr. Andrew Wilson, Dr. Carol Smith and Dr. Lisa Burrell. As a performer, Ms. Multop has traveled to Eastern Europe performing in Hungary, Austria and Czech Republic. As a conductor, she has participated in master classes with Gary Lewis and Larry Rachleff. Ms. Multop has received many accolades as an orchestra director. In 2008, her orchestra was selected to perform at TMEA as the Honor Full Orchestra. Ms. Multop is currently in her eighth year of teaching and is serving as Director of Orchestras at Doerre Intermediate in Klein ISD. Under her baton, Doerre has received numerous UIL Sweepstakes awards, as well as Best in Class Awards. The Doerre Orchestras consistently place in the finals for the Texas State Honor Orchestra competition. In 2013, the Doerre Varsity Orchestra received the Mark of Excellence Award. She holds memberships in TMEA and TODA.
Rowina Torres is currently in her first year of teaching. She joined the Doerre Intermediate teaching team in August of 2013. Ms. Torres is a home-grown Klein ISD student and is blessed to be teaching back in the district she grew up in.
Ms. Torres graduated Magna Cum Laude from Sam Houston State University with a Bachelor of Music degree. She studied under the direction of Dr. Javier Pinell, Dr. Naomi Gjevre, Dr. David Cole, and Mr. Zachery Carrettin. She was a recipient of the Cynthia Woods Pavilion Scholarship, two time recipient of the Cypress Creek FACE Foundation Scholarship, and received the James and Nancy Gaertner Scholarship. Ms. Torres did her student teaching at Klein High School and Doerre Intermediate under the guidance of Mr. Keith Markuson, Ms. Dawn Multop, and Mrs. Cathy Fishburn.
While at SHSU, Ms. Torres was part of the student staff of the Huntsville Youth Orchestra and served as the Philharmonic director, private lessons coordinator, and accompanist. She also help founded the strings program at Alpha Omega Academy in Huntsville, Texas with the collaboration of Mrs. Cynthia Cross.
Orchestras under Ms. Torres’ direction this year have earned Sweepstakes awards at the University Interscholastic League Concert and Sightreading Contest, as well as Superior Ratings and “Best in Class” awards at the Galveston Isle festival in Texas.
Ms. Torres is an active member of the Texas Music Educator Association and Texas Orchestra Director Association.
LeAnn Roth is currently in her first year of teaching at Doerre Intermediate School. She previously taught at Claughton Middle School in Spring ISD. Ms. Roth graduated from Sam Houston State University with a Bachelor of Music degree. She studied with Matthew McInturf, Dr. David Cole, and Kathy Daniel. Ms. Roth did her student teaching at Klein Oak High School and Doerre Intermediate School under the guidance of Mr. Todd Clearwater and Mr. Matt Fehl. Her professional affiliations include Texas Music Educators Association and Texas Bandmaster Association.
