Conductor's Bio

Since 2012, Brent Biskup has served as Director of Bands at Flower Mound High School, where his leadership has transformed the program into a model of musical excellence on the local, national, and international stages. Under his direction, the Flower Mound Band is recognized for its, artistry, precision, and commitment to the holistic development of student musicians. Central to Brent’s influence is the belief that great musicians are shaped through diverse and meaningful experiences. This vision is reflected in the program’s comprehensive, year-round focus on chamber music, solo literature, and full ensemble performance. By emphasizing both individual growth and collective achievement, he ensures students develop the technical skill and musical sensitivity to succeed in any setting. This commitment to excellence has earned the program some of the highest honors in the wind band world. Flower Mound is among the few programs to receive both the Sudler Flag of Honor and the Sudler Shield from the John Philip Sousa Foundation, recognizing international excellence in concert and marching performance. In marching band, Flower Mound has established itself as a consistent national contender, earning eleven BOA Regional and Super Regional titles along with frequent finalist appearances at the BOA Grand National Championships. The ensemble received the Outstanding Music Caption award at Grand Nationals in both 2021 and 2025, and the Outstanding Visual Award with a record-breaking score. At the state level, the band has maintained a strong presence at the UIL State Marching Contest, earning a distinguished record of medal finishes, including State Championships in 2016 and 2025. The program’s concert ensembles are equally accomplished. The Flower Mound Wind Symphony has performed at premier events such as the Midwest Clinic and the TMEA Convention as an Invited Ensemble, showcasing the program’s exceptional musicianship and discipline. Brent’s influence extends beyond performance, earning recognition as both an educator and community leader. He was named Flower Mound High School Teacher of the Year in 2016 and has been honored as a UIL Sponsor of Excellence. His professional achievements are complemented by his inclusion in Who’s Who Among America’s Teachers and recognition as an Outstanding Community Member by the Flower Mound Rotary Club. Outside of school, Brent is deeply committed to his family and community. He and his wife, Amelie, a chiropractor in Flower Mound, are raising their three sons—Beau, Myles, and Quinn. Whether in the band hall, on the podium, or supporting his children’s activities, Brent’s life reflects a passion for mentorship, a love of music, and a steadfast dedication to those he serves.
