Performer Bio Synopsis

The Allen High School Saxophone Ensemble started in the Spring of 2021 as a collaborative environment for students to hone fundamental saxophone skills and explore musicality through a diverse assortment of repertoire. This ensemble serves as the premiere chamber ensemble associated with the Allen High School Band Program. The AHS Saxophone Ensemble has performed at several concert events hosted by Allen ISD and continues to find opportunities to promote creative programming throughout the Allen ISD music community. It’s members are comprised of band students at Allen High School and meet outside of school on a weekly basis throughout the year. The Allen Eagle Escadrille is an iconic co-curricular program in the Allen Independent School District that takes pride in community and inclusiveness as the largest band in the land. The program believes in creating a safe atmosphere and environment for all members to grow; student involvement in the program will help them be well-rounded toward graduation and beyond. Effective leadership focusing on intentional instruction with a relentless pursuit of excellence helps each member reach their full musical potential with opportunities for group and individual goals/honors.

Conductor's Bio

Alex Baczewski is an Assistant Director of Bands at Allen High School in Allen, Texas. In addition to his foundation and direction of the AHS Saxophone Ensemble, Mr. Baczewski works with and conducts several other ensembles at Allen High School, including the Symphonic Band I, Varsity Jazz Band, Jazz Combos, and famous Allen Eagle Escadrille, the largest marching band in the land. During his time at Allen High School, Mr. Baczewski’s ensembles have received regular accolades, including the Jazz Band’s Medal of Distinction Maestro Award in 2021. He is also a performing member of the Carrollton Wind Symphony. Mr. Baczewski graduated magna cum laude from Baylor University, where he earned his Bachelor of Music in Instrumental Music Education and performed in the Baylor Wind Ensemble and Jazz Ensemble. Following graduation, Mr. Baczewski served for three years as Associate Director of Bands at Decker Middle School in Austin, Texas, and was a performing member of the Cedar Park Winds. He earned his Master of Music in Wind Conducting under the direction of Dr. Rodney Dorsey at the University of Oregon and Indiana University. During his time at Indiana University, Mr. Baczewski worked on staff with several of the Indiana University Athletic Bands in addition to conducting the IU Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Band, Concert Band, and All-Campus Band. Mr. Baczewski is a member of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia, the Texas Music Education Association, the Texas Jazz Education Association, the Jazz Education Network, and the North American Saxophone Alliance.
