Performer Bio Synopsis

The Reedy Band was established in 2015 with the opening of Dr. Rick Reedy High School in Frisco, Texas. Our first students came to us from successful band programs at Cobb, Pioneer Heritage, and Griffin Middle Schools, as well as Frisco and Wakeland High Schools. The Reedy "Cluster" includes both Pearson Middle School, and Pioneer Heritage Middle School. The Reedy High School band is made of up of three concert bands, jazz band, color guard, as well as the Percussion Ensemble. In our inaugural year, our marching band received unanimous "Superior" First Division ratings as a UIL 4A Non-Varsity band. During the 2019 marching season, the Reedy Band was selected to compete at the UIL Area B Finals for the first time ever and placed 9th. The Reedy High School Marching Band is one of the largest and most active spirit and competition groups on campus. The marching band attends all varsity football games and pep rallies to lead the students in cheers and provide musical support. The Reedy Band also attends an annual slate of Texas UIL and independent marching competitions in DFW. The Reedy Percussion section is open to all percussionists (and select double reeds in the fall) who have successfully participated in a middle school band program. The members of Reedy Percussion focus on the Reedy Band Competition show, along with All-State music in the fall semester. The Reedy Percussion Section participates at all events as part of the Reedy Marching Band, as well as regional drumline competitions. During the spring semester, the Reedy Percussion students perform solos at the UIL Solo Ensemble Contest and will audition for placement in UIL performing concert bands. In addition, each the Reedy Percussion Ensemble presents its annual concert, “Rhythmic Configurations” during the Spring semester, featuring students from Pearson and Pioneer Heritage Middle Schools. The Reedy Percussion section has performed with such guest artists as Lalo Davila, Gregg Bissonnette, Stockton Helbing, Team Islas, Tom Hurst, and Arjuna Contreras. Directors of the Reedy High School Percussion Ensemble are Scott Baldwin and Emily Magee.

Conductor's Bio

Scott Baldwin has been the Percussion Coordinator at Reedy High School, Pearson Middle School, and Pioneer Heritage Middle School, in Frisco ISD, since the opening of Reedy HS in 2015. He received a BM and MAT in Music Education from the University of Louisville, and a MM in Percussion Performance from the University of Florida. Mr. Baldwin marched with the Madison Scouts Drum and Bugle Corps ('98), and Pioneer Drum and Bugle Corps ('95-'97). Prior to his appointment in Frisco ISD, Mr. Baldwin served as the Percussion Coordinator of the Hebron High School Cluster (Lewisville ISD)from 2002-2015. He coordinated all activities percussion related from grades 6-12 including the marching percussion through the concert percussion ensembles. The group has performed with various artists such as Gregg Bissonette, Steve Smith, Lalo Davila, Tommy Igoe, Will Kennedy, and Dave Samuels. In 2010, the Hebron Marching Band was awarded the John Philip Sousa Foundation's Sudler Shield Award recognizing “Marching Bands of World-Class Excellence”. The Hebron Marching Band was also the silver medalist at both the 2012 and 2014 UIL State Marching Contest, won BOA Regional Championships in 2013 and 2014 along with multiple caption awards for Outstanding Music and General Effect. In 2010, the Hebron Wind Symphony was invited to perform at BOTH the prestigious Midwest International Band and Orchestra Clinic in Chicago in 2010 and as the TMEA State Honor Band! In 2012, they received the Sudler Flag for "significant high standards of excellence in concert activities." He has most recently presented clinics at The Midwest Clinic, Texas Music Educators Clinic/Convention, and the Texas Bandmasters Clinic. He is an active clinician, adjudicator, and performer throughout the country. His professional affiliations include the Percussive Arts Society, Texas Music Educators Association, and Phi Mu Alpha Professional Music Fraternity. Mr. Baldwin is an educational endorser for Innovative Percussion, Evans Drumheads, Pearl Drums/Adams Percussion, and Sabian Cymbals. He resides in Aubrey, TX with his wife Sarah and their two wonderful children, Rebecca and Elijah.
