Performer Bio Synopsis
The Adams Junior High Chamber Orchestra is the varsity string ensemble at Adams Junior High School in Katy, Texas. Established in 2019, the orchestra serves advanced student musicians in grades 6–8 and is comprised of approximately 30 members selected through a competitive audition process. Students in this ensemble represent the highest level of performance within the school’s orchestra program and demonstrate strong technical ability, musical maturity, and commitment to excellence. The orchestra has consistently achieved sweepstakes at UIL Concert and Sight Reading Contest. The Chamber Orchestra received "Best in Class" at the American Classics Festival. Several members of the Chamber orchestra have earned a place in the TMEA Region 23 Junior High Orchestras. The ensemble was named a Commended Winner in the Mark of Excellence Project.
The Chamber Orchestra performs a wide range of repertoire, including standard string orchestra literature, masterworks, and contemporary compositions. Rehearsals emphasize refined tone production, balance and blend, rhythmic precision, and expressive musicianship, while fostering collaboration and leadership among ensemble members.
Since the program’s founding, the Adams Junior High Chamber Orchestra has consistently earned Sweepstakes ratings at UIL Concert and Sightreading Evaluations. Students regularly participate in solo and ensemble contests, honor orchestra auditions, and festival performances, further strengthening the program’s culture of achievement and growth.
The ensemble performs for school and community events throughout the year and serves as a musical ambassador for the Adams Junior High fine arts program. Under the direction of Nicole McNeal, the Chamber Orchestra is dedicated to artistic excellence, disciplined preparation, and developing lifelong musicians.

Conductor's Bio
Nicole McNeal is the Head Orchestra Director at Adams Junior High School in Katy Independent School District, where she leads a thriving orchestra program of more than 230 students. Under her leadership, the program has consistently earned Sweepstakes awards at UIL Concert and Sight-Reading Evaluation and has developed a strong tradition of musical excellence. In 2026, the Adams Junior High Chamber Orchestra was selected to perform at the prestigious Midwest Clinic International Band and Orchestra Conference in Chicago, Illinois. That same year, the Adams Junior High Chamber Orchestra was also named a TMEA Honor Orchestra finalist, placing among the top four varsity middle school orchestras in the state of Texas.
Mrs. McNeal earned her Bachelor of Music degree in Music Education from Oklahoma City University. A native of Bartlesville, Oklahoma, she was a three-time Oklahoma All-State Orchestra musician before pursuing her passion for music education. She began her teaching career in 2016 in Spring Branch ISD before joining Katy ISD, where she continues to inspire young musicians.
An active member of the Texas Music Educators Association (TMEA), the Texas Orchestra Directors Association (TODA), and the American String Teachers Association (ASTA), Ms. McNeal is dedicated to providing meaningful musical experiences that foster lifelong appreciation for the arts. She is honored to share the stage with the talented students of the Adams Junior High Chamber Orchestra at the Midwest Clinic.
