Performer Bio Synopsis

The Indiana University Trombone Choir is one of the premier collegiate trombone ensembles in the United States. Comprised of trombone majors from all degree levels at the Jacobs School of Music at IU, the ensemble serves as both a performance group and a laboratory for artistic and technical development, offering students the opportunity to explore the rich and diverse repertoire written for trombone choir. The IUTC rehearses and performs under the direction of Dr. Brittany Lasch. Each semester, members are selected through audition, ensuring a high level of musicianship and commitment. Throughout the academic year, the IUTC presents multiple concerts, both on and off campus. In 2024, the IUTC was invited to make their debut performance at the American Trombone Workshop, hosted by The US Army Band “Pershing’s Own” in Fort Myer, Virginia. In 2026, the ensemble was invited to perform at the Indiana Music Educators Association Conference, and was also named Runner Up in the International Trombone Association Emory Remington Trombone Choir Competition, the only ensemble from North America to place. In the past three years, the IUTC has commissioned and premiered numerous new works, including pieces by Adrian B. Sims, Emma Cardon-Wake, and Christopher Kemp. More than just an ensemble, the Indiana University Trombone Choir serves as a cornerstone of the trombone program at the Jacobs School of Music. It provides students with invaluable experience in collaboration, innovation, and proficiency—skills that prepare them for successful careers as performers, educators, and advocates of the trombone.
