Conductor's Bio

Harold Sedano, a native of Houston, Texas, began his musical journey in the second grade when he first picked up the cornet. His passion for music grew through his involvement in jazz band and his early exposure to drum corps during high school, experiences that ultimately led him to perform with Phantom Regiment, further shaping his musicianship and commitment to the marching arts. Sedano went on to attend the University of North Texas, where he earned a Bachelor’s degree in Performance. He later toured internationally in Japan for multiple summers as a performer with BLAST!, the Tony Award–winning theatrical production inspired by drum corps. Currently based in Houston, Sedano founded the jazz program at Raul Yzaguirre Schools for Success Early College High School, where he continues to inspire and mentor young musicians. While teaching, he earned a Master’s degree in Jazz Pedagogy from the University of Arkansas at Monticello. In addition to his work as an educator, Sedano remains an active performer and is a member of the Houston Latin Jazz Orchestra. Through both education and performance, he is dedicated to expanding musical opportunities within his community, providing students with the same transformative experiences that shaped his own musical path.
