Performer Bio Synopsis

Indian Springs MS was named the recipient of the 2013 John Philip Sousa Foundation’s Sudler Cup, a national award whose purpose is to recognize middle school programs that have demonstrated particularly significant high standards of excellence over a span of several years. The band program has been recognized at the state level of Texas Music Educators Association Honor Band process two times, placing third runner-up in 2013. To date, Choice Music’s Mark of Excellence has recognized ISMS seven times in the National Wind Band Honors contest. Bands have enjoyed much success with consistent Division I Superior ratings at Texas University Interscholastic League Concert and Sight-reading contests and many Best in Class or outstanding bands of the day recognition at local festivals in the DFW area. The band program consistently has the highest representation at District and Region level honor bands and Superior ratings at solo and ensemble contests.

Conductor's Bio

Conductors: David Puckett is currently a band director at Indian Springs Middle School and South Keller Intermediate School in Keller I.S.D, Texas where he opened both schools in 2001. Mr. Puckett is in his eighteenth year as a Texas music educator where he has taught at both the middle school and high school levels. He was named Indian Springs Middle School’s “Teacher of the Year” in 2007. Mr. Puckett serves as clinician, conductor, adjudicator and trombone performer in the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex. Mr. Puckett is a member of the Texas Music Educators Association, Texas Bandmasters Association and regularly attends the Midwest International Band and Orchestra conference. He has served in several offices at the TMEA region level and currently serves as lead teacher of the six Keller ISD middle school band programs. Mr. Puckett graduated with his Bachelors of Music Education from the University of Nebraska –Lincoln and now resides in Keller, Texas with his loving wife Becky and beautiful daughter Rachel. Christopher Sebesta is in his thirteenth year of teaching and fourth year as Assistant Director at Indian Springs Middle School. Prior to teaching at Indian Springs, Mr. Sebesta taught for two years at Aledo Middle School and seven years at Holub Middle School. Mr. Sebesta graduated summa cum laude from the University of Houston where he was the principal bassoonist for four years in the Wind Ensemble under the direction of Eddie Green. Mr. Sebesta has received several UIL Sweepstakes and “Best in Class” awards at various Concert Band and Jazz Band festivals. He is a member of TMEA and TBA. He is married to Christina Sebesta and they have two children, Chase and Molly. Jennifer Alcocer is in her tenth year of teaching band in Texas. Her Concert Bands and Symphonic Bands have earned consistent superior ratings in UIL C&SR contests, and have also won Best in Class awards at various festivals. She previously taught for two years at Brazoswood High School in Clute, Texas. She holds a Bachelor of Music degree in music education and a Master of Music degree in flute performance from Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches, Texas. While in undergraduate and graduate school, she was the principal flutist in the Wind Ensemble under the direction of Fred Allen. Jennifer is a member of Texas Music Educators Association, Texas Bandmaster Association, Tau Beta Sigma, and Mu Phi Epsilon. She is married to Cristian Alcocer and they have a beautiful daughter named Carmen who loves to watch the marching band.
