The Athena Brass Band is proud to champion the advancement of women musicians and composers by commissioning and performing new works, showcasing powerful arrangements, and creating meaningful performance opportunities. Athena is a unique international ensemble, drawing talented musicians from across the United States and around the world for each performance. Whenever and wherever the band gathers, audiences are inspired by Athena’s musical excellence, passion, and infectious joy. Committed to fostering the growth of female-identifying musicians in the brass band world, Athena also provides opportunities for those newer to the field to gain valuable experience. For every concert, the personnel committee thoughtfully invites a mix of returning and first-time performers to share the stage.
