Performer Bio Synopsis

The band program at Walsh Middle School serves more than 400 students, with seventh and eighth graders enrolled in one of four performing bands and sixth grade beginning band classes in a homogeneous setting. Under the direction of Jennifer Bergeron, the Walsh Honor Band performed at The Midwest Clinic in 2021 and the Music for All National Concert Band Festival in 2024. In 2025, the Walsh Middle School Honor Band was a finalist in the TMEA Class CCC Honor Band contest. The Walsh Honor Band has enjoyed performing across the state and country as a large ensemble and in smaller chamber groups. The Walsh Premier Brass chamber ensemble was a featured performance ensemble at the Texas Music Educators Association Conference in 2025. The Walsh Percussion Ensemble has been featured at the Percussive Arts Society International Convention as the middle school division winner of the International Percussion Ensemble Competition. The Walsh program prides itself on providing a variety of music making opportunities. In addition to the traditional concert band format, students have numerous opportunities to participate in small and large chamber ensembles and solo recitals throughout the year. The Walsh band directors enjoy spreading their love of teaching music with the larger band community, having presented at The Midwest Clinic in 2024, and the Texas Music Educators Association Conference and Texas Bandmasters Association Conference in 2025. Throughout the year, Walsh Band students participate in multiple mentoring programs including student-led rehearsals, sectionals, and tutoring of younger students. Through the dedicated work of many individuals, the program has built a tradition of excellence that has flourished within the school and community.
