How NOT to Get the Job: The Administrators' Perspective

Clinic Synopsis:

The panel will discuss what employers look for when considering candidates for teaching positions and the things that can eliminate a candidate from consideration. Topics to be covered range from appearance and demeanor, to interview techniques, and resume content.

Gary Markham, Bradley Kent, John Phillips - Biographical Information

Mr. Markham is supervisor of music for the Cobb County School District. He also serves internationally as a clinician, guest conductor, adjudicator, and consultant. The Cobb County Music program was acknowledged nine times as one of the “Best Communities for Music Education" in the United States. In 2006, he was presented with the "Georgia Music Educators Administrative Leadership Award" and was inducted into the "Bands of America Hall of Fame.” In 2007, Markham received the DCI & Coltrin & Associates “Excellence in Music Education Award.” In 2009, MENC presented the first “Excellence in Marching Music Education” to Mr. Markham for serving as chair of the Blue Ribbon Commission for writing National Standards, and a lifetime devoted to marching music excellence.
