Dr. Loeffert will share the materials and curricula that made him a successful private teacher during his undergraduate work. Topics include how to design a 20-, 30-, 45-, and 60-minute lesson plan; scope and sequence in the short and long term; lesson partners; and effective communication with the band director and parents. In addition, he will share his thoughts on how the private teaching experience makes one a more attractive candidate for a full-time classroom position.
Jeffrey Loeffert

Jeffrey Loeffert is assistant professor of saxophone at Oklahoma State University. He is featured on five commercially available discs with the h2 quartet. He graduated Summa Cum Laude from Northwestern University with a Bachelor of Music double major in Saxophone Performance and Jazz Studies. A Frank Huntington Beebe Scholar, Loeffert studied in Paris at the CNR Cergy-Pontoise and the CNR Boulogne-Billancourt where he received the Medalle d'Or Unanimité and the diploma Cycle d'Orientation Professionnel, respectively. He completed graduate studies at Michigan State University as the recipient of a University Distinguished Fellowship. Loeffert received a Master of Music degree and a Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Saxophone Performance, as well as a Master of Music degree in Music Theory Pedagogy. At MSU, he was awarded the Paul Harder Award for music theory and composition.
