The Lincoln Park High School, under the direction of Philip Castleberry, will perform, followed by mentoring from Jim Culbertson.

Jim Culbertson - Biographical Information

For 39 years, Jim Culbertson was a high school band director in Decatur, Illinois and the driving force in the Decatur West End music program, preparing hundreds of students for careers in music as teachers and performers. The jazz program at MacArthur gained a reputation as one of the nation's premier programs, earning 37 Down Beat Awards. He has been the musical director of the Decatur Municipal Band for the past 33 years, has played lead trumpet for many national musical acts, and has regularly toured as a featured trumpet player with his son, Brian. Jim has served as vice-president of IMEA, IAJE-IL, and for NBA jazz activities and has served as a clinician for festivals and conferences across the United States. He is the recipient of the "Outstanding Educator Achievement Award" from Down Beat and has repeatedly received the "Citation of Excellence Award" from the NBA.
