Building a Successful Middle School/High School Cello Choir

Clinic Synopsis:

The clinic will present tips on how/why to start a cello choir. It will also include warm-ups, technique advice, motivational strategies, and suggestions for literature on different levels. Attendees will also have the opportunity to hear part of my cello choir as a demonstration group.

Tanner Ledford - Biographical Information

Tanner Ledford is director of orchestras at Klein Oak High School in Spring, Texas. He has a BM and MA from Trinity University in San Antonio where he studied cello with David Mollenhauer. He served as orchestra director of Deer Park High School before assuming a position as head orchestra director at J. Frank Dobie High School in Pasadena. His orchestras have earned numerous UIL Sweepstakes Awards and awards of distinction at many festivals including the Mark of Excellence National Orchestra Honors Project winner (2008), Tommy Tune Best Orchestra (2006). He conducted the Beverly Hills Intermediate School Orchestra during their Midwest concert in 2006. His orchestra also performed at Midwest in 2009. He performs as a freelance cellist and teaches private cello and double bass lessons.
