Suzuki in the Schools: What’s New! What’s for You!

Clinic Synopsis:

This lecture demonstration will cover key concepts to successfully using the Suzuki Method in the string classroom. New aural skill sequences, new heterogeneous ensemble materials and new concepts to introducing literacy will be discussed. Concepts and teaching strategies of this tried and true learning approach will be demonstrated and discussed. (No Handout Available)

Winifred Crock - Biographical Information

Winifred Crock is currently the director of orchestras at Parkway Central High School and maintains a private violin studio in suburban St. Louis, Missouri. During her tenure, the Central High Music Department has been awarded GRAMMY Gold Signature school status as one of the top music departments in the country. She has maintained a private studio for 33 years and taught in public school string programs for 27 years. She has lectured at numerous ASTA and SAA conferences and has been the featured string clinician at TMEA, MMEA and other music conferences in over 20 states, Canada and New Zealand. In 2010, she was the conductor of the Suzuki Association of the Americas International Suzuki Youth Orchestra II. She is the coauthor with William Dick and Laurie Scott of the Alfred string publication “Learning Together: Sequential Repertoire for Solo Strings or String Ensemble.”
