George Hayden
- Biographical Information
George Hayden is the band director at Montgomery Ridge Intermediate School in Maryville, TN (formerly known as Maryville Intermediate). He has been the with Maryville City School System for 19 years. At MRIS, Mr. Hayden teaches band to grades 5-7. Mr. Hayden adjudicates & conducts bands & clinics nationwide. Mr. Hayden is also the music director at Central UMC in Knoxville, TN. He has a BS from the University of Tennessee & an MS from Lincoln Memorial University. Mr. Hayden’s bands have compiled 50+ superior ratings in stage performance & sight-reading with grades 2, 3 & 4-music with the MRIS 5th-7th grade bands over his teaching career. His 6th Grade MIS Wind Ensemble performed at the 2007 Midwest Clinic. His professional memberships include NAfME, Phi Beta Mu, TBA, TMEA, ETSB&OA and TSSBDA. Mr. Hayden is a contributing editor for The Instrumentalist. He has presented professional development workshops, clinics and classes at the Midwest Clinic, NAfME, TMEA and numerous universities including the University. of Tennessee, Knoxville, the University of Tennessee, Chattanooga, East Tennessee State University, Carson Newman University and Vandercook College of Music.
RoAnn Romines holds a Bachelor of Music from Middle Tennessee State University and a Masters of Music from Indiana University. Ms. Romines continued her post-graduate work at Indiana University and the Universiteit in Amsterdam.
The past 24 years, Ms. Romines has been teaching instrumental music. Her teaching experience includes the University of Tennessee and Maryville City Schools. She has also taught bands in the Dominican Republic, Giessen Germany, Indiana and Texas. She has conducted clinics in Illinois, Indiana, Germany, Texas, Kentucky and Colorado and has conducted orchestras in Germany, Amsterdam and Indiana. She has appeared as a clinician at Midwest, various universities, International schools and state conferences and has contributed to articles in the Instrumentalist.
As a clarinetist, Ms. Romines has taught at the Universidad in the Dominican Republic, Frankfurt Hochschule, Berlin Philharmonic Academy, Maryville College and the University of Tennessee.
Ms. Romines currently teaches clarinet with the MRIS Grade Wind Ensemble for the Maryville City Schools with George Hayden. The band has won several awards within its brief history, and has received the honor of performing at the Chicago Midwest Clinic. Ms. Romines also maintains a large private studio at home representing students in the East Tennessee area.
Ms. Romines is actively involved in teaching and pursing the education of music in our schools and communities.
She is a member of Delta Omicron, TMEA, ICA, NAfME and ASBDA, the American Red Cross and UNICEF.
