Jeff Nelson - Biographical Information

Jeff Nelson is the Director of Instrumental Music at Chrisman Junior / Senior High School in Chrisman Illinois. Mr. Nelson graduated from Culver-Stockton College in Missouri in 2000 and is currently in his 13th year of teaching. He has had experience in both small and large school districts in Missouri and has had the unique opportunity of building an instrumental music program from the ground up at Chrisman, whose music program had been cut for the two years prior to his arrival. In just five years the 5th - 12th Chrisman Band Program has grown from just 32 students in 2008 to 90 this school year. In this time Mr. Nelson has also created four new general music classes for the high school level, Percussion Theory, Strings Theory, World Drumming, and World Music Listening Lab, which provides music education for another 15 to 20 non-band students each year. Mr. Nelson was honored with the WTHI Golden Apple Award in the spring of 2012.
